Working in Cold conditions Safety Plan - OSHA Standard 29CFR1910; OSHA Act Para 5.A.1:
Provides the user with the needed written plan for establishing the requirements for a working in cold conditions safety program, components include; Employee training, new employee conditioning period, major risk factors, job reassignment, periodic workplace walk-throughs, cold stress symptoms survey, selection and use of work practices, posting of hazardous areas, measures for reducing cold stress, recordkeeping and other data as required by U.S. OSHA. Numerous editable safety forms included.

BASIS: The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recommends that worker exposure to cold working environments be controlled. An individual gains body heat from food and muscular activity and loses it through convection, conduction, radiation and sweating to maintain a constant body temperature. When body temperature drops even a few degrees below its normal temperature of 98.6°F (37°C), the blood vessels constrict, decreasing peripheral blood flow to reduce heat loss from the surface of the skin. Shivering generates heat by increasing the body's metabolic rate. The reduction of adverse health effects from cold can be accomplished by the proper application of engineering and work practice controls, worker training, measurements and assessment of cold working conditions, medical supervision, and proper use of protective clothing and equipment.

Editable safety forms included with program are:

a. Safety Practices for Working in Cold Conditions
b. Protective Measures Determination
c. Cold Conditions Symptom Survey
d.
Over 20 Safety Documentation and Recordkeeping Forms
